Leaving NYC

There's still some funk left in very cleaned up Manhattan.

Food —farmers market bialys, honey crisp apples, roasted autumn vegetables (oh those brussels sprouts); super fresh sashimi, especially the octopus, layered over warm rice; American burgers, happily ordered rare after 3 months in Mexico; silken lox ‘n everything bagels from Zabars, the NYC mecca; a side of organic salmon lathered with honey mustard and sprinkled with dill; Thai and Chinese take-out to get us warmed up for our trip to Asia. (And a dense dried fruit rugelach that I hogged for myself…sorry.)

Art — the not surprising but joyous Picasso sculpture show at MOMA, and the shockingly disappointing Frank Stella show at the Whitney (see spot on review).

Thank you Joanna and Mark, AKA Marco Polo, for everything.

Packing on the light side for 7 months on the road.

Less than I wanted to bring, but light enough to easily carry.

Packpack folds into nothing, but even light electronics are on the heavy side.

The old NYC still lingers. Fond memories of good Jewish food.
