If you really want to make a friend, go to someone’s house and eat with him… the people who give you their food give you their heart. — Cesar Chavez

Classes

Classes, Events and Culinary Coaching

These days I’m mostly teaching and writing, although I still lecture at an event. I

Locavore extraordinaire and veteran cooking teacher, I’ve taught home and professional cooking extensively at schools such as the Institute for Culinary Education and The Culinary Institute of America.

In all my group and priviate classes, students learn how to cook seasonally, bringing out the best in farm-fresh ingredients, seeking out and savoring delicious local foods wherever they live. This style of ingredient-focused cooking emphasizes improvisation and recipe adaptation, using fabulous food combinations with easy-to-follow techniques. The results are delicious.

Classes that are open to the public are announced well before they take place on this page, on my blog and facebook page. (If you like, sign up in the upper right hand corner of this page. Or contact me.)

Arrange your own private class with 1-8 students to be held at your home, anywhere within 1 hour of Northampton, Massachusetts.  Private group lessons can also be arranged to include pick-your-own outings and/or farm tours with a cooking class. Contact me to arrange.
